UC Merced Stem Cell Biology Consortium

Bringing stem cell expertise, research innovation and biotechnology to the heart of the San Joaquin Valley.

Research in stem cell biology is critical for our understanding of human development and health. Stem cells have the potential to regenerate other cells in the body. This type of treatment, called regenerative therapy, could eventually treat conditions such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and spinal cord injuries.

Led by an innovative group of award-winning faculty, UC Merced has moved quickly into the exciting field of stem cell research. The UC Merced Stem Cell Consortium brings together engineers, molecular biologists, computational biologists and mathematicians to redefine how stem cells are studied. The primary focus of the UC Merced Stem Cell Consortium is to increase our understanding of individual stem cell behavior and how it affects tissue organization and regeneration.

Your tax-deductible contribution to the UC Merced Stem Cell Research Fund helps to support graduate student fellowships, highly specialized instrumentation and undergraduate research opportunities in a cutting-edge research environment.
