University Friends Circle

Support the university while fostering friendship with the local community.

University Friends Circle
University Friends Circle (UFC) has been organized to inspire and maintain strong relationships between UC Merced and the communities of the San Joaquin Valley. The UFC connects to the community and the university through activities that promote social and intellectual interaction, service programs and fund raising initiatives that support a UC Merced scholarship/award program.

Some of the University Friends Circle’s objectives to benefit the community and the university include:

• Providing encouragement and assistance to new faculty, staff and their families as
they become familiar with the Merced community

• Raising funds to support UC Merced students and their organizations, which have
demonstrated significant leadership through commitment to community service

• Recognizing and encouraging strong civic engagement by UC Merced students as
their experiences prepare them to be compassionate and thoughtful leaders of the
21st century

• Arranging a supportive environment for intellectual dialogue between UC Merced and
communities of the San Joaquin Valley

Membership to the UFC supports these goals. Also, a monthly forum is provided for intellectual, artistic and student-oriented presentations and discussions about matters critical to the successful empowerment of the San Joaquin Valley and its residents.
